A Day of Family Fun with Nature at the Heart
Alconbury Weald is known for its commitment to preserving and integrating nature into the community, and the Wild Weald event is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the wildlife right on your doorstep. From 10am to 3pm, participants can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities, guided by the knowledgeable team from the Wildlife Trust BCN.
Pond Dipping: What’s in the Water?
Join the Wildlife Trust at Alconbury Weald’s serene Carnaile Pond to explore the underwater world of this beautiful natural space. Ideal for children and their parents or carers, the pond dipping sessions will give you the chance to discover what creatures are living just beneath the surface. From water beetles to pond snails, you never know what fascinating wildlife you’ll uncover! The Wildlife Trust experts will be on hand to explain all about the species you find and share fun facts about the pond’s ecosystem.
Nature Crafts for All Ages
After you’ve dipped into the pond, let your creativity flow with the nature crafts sessions. Children and their families can enjoy making bug hotels, fairy ladders, and colourful bunting, or simply use natural materials to create their own masterpieces. These crafts are not only fun but also a great way to connect with nature and learn how small changes in your garden can support local wildlife.
Meet at School Plaza for this hour of creative exploration!
